The visual essay manga will be based on Mizuki's own life. In the series, Mizuki will tell of his peaceful childhood, his experience in World War II, his poor life afterward, and his foray into kamishibai picture stories. Mainichi Shimbun's Mantan Web is hosting a few preview images of the new manga.

Tsutsui has courted controversy throughout his career, with a crusade against political correctness that has occasionally led to accusations of misogyny, racism and intolerance. He embarked on a self-imposed authorial strike from 1993-1996, after his story "Muteki Keisatsu" ["Unmanned Police"] (coll Nigiyaka-na Mirai 1968) was dropped from a Kadokawa anthology for schools on the grounds of an unacceptable treatment of epilepsy. The incident was recounted in Tsutsui's collection of essays and diary entries Warai-inu-rō no Chōbō ["View from the House of the Laughing Dog"] (anth 1994), and in Nuiko Satō's book-length study Nanika Okashii: Tsutsui Yasutaka 'Mujin Keisatsu' Kadokawa Kyōkasho Tenkan Sabetsu Mondai ["Something Weird: Yasutaka Tsutsui's 'Unmanned Police' and the Kadokawa Textbook Epilepsy Discrimination Problem"] (1995). However, during his well publicized absence from print, he was intensely active in digital media, publishing his first "digital book" Tsutsui Yasutaka Yonsenji Gekijō ["Yasutaka Tsutsui's 4000-character Theatre"] (1994 ebook) for the Japanese PC-9800 system. A selection of short stories, the work took its name from the number of Japanese characters per piece: 4000 continuous characters would fill roughly five pages in a B-format paperback. He also appeared in a television commercial for Macintosh Computers (1995), and was instrumental in the setting up of the e-book server Japan Literature Net (JALInet).

On July 16, Coconuts Musume released the essay book Coconuts Musume no Tanoshii Hawaii Ryuugaku. They also held a handshake event the same day at Ginza/Fukuya bookstore. About 500 fans gathered at the venue and shook hands with Mika and Ayaka who wore hibiscus-patterned yukatas.

Manatsu and Sango are making their way home when she brings up the possibility of Minori becoming a Pretty Cure. Laura claims she looks unreliable though, and Manatsu reasons that they barely know anything about her. For all they know she might be a karate champion. Sango suggests they ask their Teacher, and the following day they do. Sakuragawa recalls that Minori was a member of the Literacy club. She is very good with her marks and she even wrote an essay for the club magazine. Manatsu is very hyper as she admires the story, and in the process of waving around the Aqua Pot they get overheard by Minori. She recognizes the story in Manatsu's hand, and Manatsu showers her with praise and compliments. But for some reason Minori seems perturbed, and she remarks that her story was a boring fairy tale. She recalls being told by someone in the club this, and she tells the girls that she left the club. She runs off, unwilling to speak any longer.

Kisaragi Koharu was an ultimate theatre creator: a playwright, director, artistic director, theatre educator, composer, lyricist, performer, and critic of current issues both theatrical and social. She was an all-round artist and advocate, and when she passed away suddenly in December 2000 from a cerebral hemorrhage, she left a young daughter, a husband, a vast world of unfinished scripts and projects, and a legacy of plays, essays, and theatre activism.

The company's work reflected Kisaragi's ideas about actors' voices and bodies. In her essay "Ansanburu no Shiso" (Thoughts on the ensemble) she wrote that "the point of departure is language" and also that... 2ff7e9595c
